Alpha 311 Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

Collaborative Engineering Services have been responsible for the product development and commercialisation of a small vertical axis wind turbine. From CFD, design, manufacturing and the commercial wrap we have worked with the Alpha team to bring their product to market.

Business Advisor for the ICURe Explore November 2024 programme

The iCURE Business Advisor plays a key role in supporting early-stage researchers and entrepreneurs in commercialising innovative research. iCURE (Innovation to Commercialisation of University Research) is a program designed to help researchers validate their business ideas, explore market potential, and develop commercial strategies.

Engineering Support for Product Development

Supported the team at Oxford University to lay the foundations of a good concept development and working prototype of Matilda. Met with the team to discuss the importance of:

Good engineering practice.
Correct selection of components

This led to a solid path for technology development of their first prototype.

Commercialisation Strategy Prior to Potential Spinout

We played a key role in shaping the commercialisation strategy, providing the University of Birmingham (UoB) with valuable industry connections and potential partners. Additionally, CES developed a technical roadmap, conducted a risk-based analysis, and tested the market, ensuring a solid foundation for the next steps in the commercialisation journey.

Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine

Collaborative Engineering Services have been working on the product development and commercialisation of an urban air wind turbine for Airplus Renewables.

Work to date has included CFD, design, and scaling to build a full-size prototype We have also worked on applications for grant funding and finding commercial test sites within Oxford.

CFD - Navier Flow Consultants

Collaborative Engineering Services work closely with Navier Flow Consultants on a number of projects for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). From turbines to modelling heat transfer we carry out varying work packages.
